A 28-year-old man of Filipino origin has died in the Albanian coastal city of Durres after coming into contact with live electricity while working on a boat, police said.

The incident occurred at around 12:20 p.m. local time in Durres’ No. 1 neighborhood.

According to police, the victim, identified by the initials A. R., was an employee of a private company and was working with a pump to remove water from the boat when he came into contact with an electrical current.

The man died as a result of the electrical shock.

An investigative team is at the scene and is working to establish the full circumstances and causes of the incident, police said.
