Albania Bans Woman Allegedly Linked to Iranian Regime for 15 Years
Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, has ordered a 15-year entry ban against Ikball Huduti (Berisha), declaring her an “undesirable person” in the Republic of Albania on national security grounds.
According to the ministry, the decision was based on information gathered by state authorities indicating that Huduti’s activities are considered a threat to the country, national security, and public order.
The order has been forwarded to the State Police and the Border and Migration Directorate for enforcement, effectively barring Huduti from entering or remaining in Albania for the duration of the ban.
Albanian authorities have previously associated Huduti with Iran’s ruling establishment and alleged that she has publicly expressed support for positions linked to the Iranian regime. Officials also claim she has made public statements calling for actions against Albania’s constitutional order.
Huduti has appeared publicly alongside former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a figure who remains controversial internationally because of his rhetoric and policies during his time in office.
The decision comes amid heightened political attention surrounding recent protests in Tirana, where Huduti’s alleged involvement sparked criticism from Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In a public statement on Thursday, Rama accused Huduti of promoting hatred, encouraging unrest against Albania’s government, and expressing support for figures associated with Iran’s leadership. The prime minister also referenced photographs showing Huduti alongside Ahmadinejad, describing the former Iranian president as a key representative of the country’s ruling clerical establishment.
Albanian authorities have not released further details regarding the intelligence or evidence underpinning the decision. No immediate public response from Huduti was available following the announcement.
Albania has maintained a firm stance against activities it considers linked to foreign influence operations and threats to national security, particularly those connected to Iran, following a series of diplomatic and security tensions between the two countries in recent years.
