Albania’s Director General of the Fire Service, Arben Cara, has resigned from his post as the country faces a worsening wildfire situation.

Sources say Cara submitted his resignation a day earlier, with the order formally approving his departure signed on Tuesday.

The reason for his resignation at this critical moment remains unclear.
