Albania Unveils New Program to Boost Small and Medium Businesses

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced a new government initiative aimed at supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises across the country.

The program, titled “Double Your Enterprise,” is expected to be launched soon and will focus on improving access to finance for businesses seeking expansion.

According to Rama, the scheme will offer loans with lower interest rates than those typically available in the commercial banking market, backed by state guarantees. The initiative is designed to help entrepreneurs scale up their operations and increase production capacity.

The prime minister described the program as a significant step forward in supporting entrepreneurship in Albania, particularly in addressing the challenges businesses face in securing financing.

“Following the Mountains Package, a new program of the Albanian government, in cooperation with the Bank of Albania and second-level banks, is about to be finalized,” Rama said. “It will support all those who aim to double their enterprise through a strong lending scheme with more favorable interest rates and government guarantees.”

He added that the initiative will be open to small and medium businesses, production units, and startups seeking to transform into sustainable and profitable enterprises.

Further details on the implementation timeline are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
