Albania Urges Vigilance for Citizens in UAE as Regional Tensions Rise
Around 1,500 Albanian citizens are officially living and working in Dubai and across the United Arab Emirates, as authorities step up monitoring efforts amid escalating security tensions in parts of the Middle East.
Prime Minister Edi Rama held a special online meeting with Albania’s ambassadors, calling for maximum engagement from the diplomatic network to guarantee the safety of Albanian nationals in potentially affected countries.
During the virtual meeting, Rama instructed diplomats to maintain continuous communication with Albanian communities and ensure that citizens are fully registered with embassies and consular offices. The move is aimed at enabling rapid response to any requests or needs that may arise from the evolving regional situation.
Albania’s Ambassador to the European Union, Ferit Hoxha — proposed by Rama for the post of foreign minister — underlined the importance of keeping regular contact with citizens abroad.
“It is important that we stay in contact, that everyone is registered and able to communicate with the embassy. At any hour, we are the ones who can assist them, and the Albanian public service is fully committed to supporting our citizens,” Hoxha said.
Rama added that coordination between institutions and diplomatic missions will ensure real-time information sharing on any new developments.
“With this coordinated team, you will be informed in real time about everything,” he stated.
Earlier, Albania’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ridi Kurtezi, reassured citizens that there is no need for panic and that current conditions do not require an urgent evacuation of Albanians residing in the UAE.
Authorities said they are continuing to closely monitor the situation and urged citizens to remain in regular contact with Albanian diplomatic representatives.
