Shkodër MP Marjana Koçeku Declares Independence from Socialist Party in Social Media Statement

Member of Parliament for Shkodër Marjana Koçeku has announced that she is no longer part of the Socialist Party, stating in a social media post that she will continue her mandate as an independent lawmaker.

In her statement, Koçeku emphasized that her values and ideals have remained unchanged even prior to her political engagement, adding that they define her personal boundaries in public life.

Koçeku previously led the Socialist Party list in the Shkodër constituency in the most recent parliamentary elections, a position that placed her among the key representatives of the governing majority in the region.

However, it remains unclear whether her departure has been formally processed within the structures of the Socialist Party or submitted to the Albanian Parliament.

In her full statement, she wrote: “From today I am an independent MP. My ideals and values are the same I have had and expressed even before associating with a party. They define my limits.”
