Albanian Boxer Recalls First Years of Career

Albanian Boxer Florian Marku, during his speech this Saturday at the ceremony of awarding the title "Big Star of Public Recognition", recalled the first years of his life and career. He said, among other things, that he had a difficult life, and that he came from a not rich family.

He also shared the words he said to his mother when she was working as a cleaner, telling her that in a few years she will no longer need to work, words that brought tears even to Marku's wife.

"Thank you to the prime minister, the mayor, and Taulant Balla for supporting us. I don't know how to start, but for me this is a dream that has come true. In my career I have always been realistic and I will remain so.

My family is not rich, my mother also worked as a cleaner in immigration, but I have told her that after a few years she will never have to work and thank God she does not need to work anymore. People think it's luck, but it takes work and effort.

I have had a very successful career in kick boxing. I have operated on my hands five times, it is a very difficult sport. I was in Greece without papers, I went to England by chance, from a promoter who lied to us. They told me when 'you will have a gym, you will have everything' and we found nothing. But I had a dream to box in England and I was lucky to be there. At first no one believed me, but later success came with hard work and sacrifice. Albanians have never disappointed me, they have filled the hall everywhere I have played", Florian Marku declared.
