Allowed Speed in Albanian Highways Increased to 130km/h
Officially, the permitted speed on Albanian highways is set up to 130 km/h. With no votes against, the decision to change the speed on highways was approved in the Parliamentary Committee for Production Activities, Trade and Environment this Tuesday.
This decision was one of the points proposed for change in the Road Code by a group of MPs of the Democratic Party. The speed allowed on highways until today has been limited to 110 km/h.
According to the MPs and road safety experts in the commission, the highways in Albania have the conditions for the movement of vehicles at this speed level. Citizens up to 70 years old will be allowed to hold a license.
This decision caused the duration to be changed from the age of 65 to 70 years. Among the other decisions approved in this commission is the permission to hold two patents.
Any Albanian citizen who owns a foreign license should not be deprived of the right to keep the one of the country of birth. The commission also discussed the identification of skateboards on highways and interurban roads. The MPs suggested that rules be put in place for these travelers.
