Alpine Police to Be Created for Helping Tourists Who Go Climbing
Rapid Intervention Forces are being trained to create alpine teams, in order to help citizens and tourists in need in mountainous areas.
State Police revealed Saturday that since a week, the employees of the Police of Rapid Intervention Forces (FNSH) Tirana, Fier and Shkodër have been trained by their Austrian counterparts, with the aim of creating dedicated alpine teams.
"FNSH officers have been trained on the ground, day and night, with the logistical tools brought by their Austrian counterparts, in order to train them in order to move safely in the alpine terrains.
The Austrian trainers have alternated practice with theory and at the end of the one-week training, they have evaluated the performance of the FNSH employees, the discipline and the assimilation of the program. The equipment brought to be used for the training, the Austrian counterparts have donated to the FNSH teams, to be used in cases of need for help in the mountainous areas", informed the police.
On his part, the Ambassador of Austria in Albania, Dr. Christian Steiner, assessed the creation of alpine teams as necessary, starting from the frequent cases of tourists seeking help in mountainous areas.
However, he emphasized that these teams will be supported with logistics and training, which will continue again in March next year.
