Armed Robbery Reported at Currency Exchange in Tirana Shopping Center

Police in Tirana are searching for a suspect after an armed robbery targeted a currency exchange office inside a shopping center on Thursday morning.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 9:10 a.m. on “5 Maji” Street, where an unidentified individual entered the exchange point and, under the threat of what appeared to be a firearm — believed to be a pistol — stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.

Police said the exchange office is located inside a commercial center in the 5 Maji area, a busy part of the Albanian capital.

Law enforcement officers responded immediately after receiving the report, surrounding the area and setting up checkpoints on nearby roads in an effort to track down the suspect.

Authorities are currently conducting searches in the surrounding neighborhoods while investigative teams work to clarify the circumstances of the robbery and identify the perpetrator.

The suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.
