Body of Missing Man Found After Month-Long Search in Albania
The body of a young man who went missing after falling into a river last month has been found following nearly a month of search efforts, authorities and family members said.
The body of Jurgen Karaj, 30, was discovered near the village of Urakë during a patrol carried out by army forces and Kosovo Security Force units using inflatable boats. Family members later confirmed the identity, and the body is being transferred to the morgue.
Karaj had been missing since Jan. 10, when a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Andi Losha veered off the road and fell into a stream at around 1:30 a.m. Karaj was a passenger in the car.
According to police, Losha fled the scene without notifying authorities or providing assistance to Karaj, who is suspected to have been swept away by the stream’s current.
Losha was later arrested, and a breathalyzer test showed he had been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, police said.
