Chief Police and Crime Specialists Face Prison and House Arrest Following Saranda Prosecution’s Request Over Illegal Constructions
Saranda Prosecution Office, informed that has registered criminal proceeding no. 304 of 2026 concerning the criminal offences of “Abuse of Office” and “Failure to take measures to sever illegality,” committed more than once and in complicity against the following individuals:
• G.B., Chief of Saranda Police Commissariat;
• A.D., Crime Section Specialist;
• A.I., Crime Section Specialist; and
• R.Ç., Assistant Community Policing Specialist.
Saranda Prosecution Office declared Wednesday through a press statemet that has conducted investigative actions following the submitted materials and requested validation of the detention, along with the imposition of security measures.
Evidence collected so far, comprising 2,792 pages, shows that several structures were built without the required permits from the competent authorities. These buildings were not registered by Sarandaë Police Commissariat, which, in some cases, allowed construction work to continue through to full completion.
Police structures are responsible for maintaining public order and peace, as well as monitoring and controlling matters related to the prevention and combating of criminal activity involving offences against life and health; offences against morality and dignity; offences against children, marriage, and family; offences against freedom of belief; offences affecting the legal regime of land; offences against the state and state activity; offences against public order and security; offences against justice; and offences against free elections and the democratic system.
Saranda District Court, acting upon the request of the Saranda Prosecution Office, ordered the following security measures:
• 30-day remand in custody for G.B.;
• 30-day remand in custody for R.Ç.;
• House arrest for A.D.; and
• House arrest for A.I.
Saranda Prosecution Office continues investigations aimed at identifying all relevant cases, ensuring comprehensive documentation of the alleged criminal conduct, and establishing individual responsibility for each employee of Saranda Police Commissariat, as well as any other responsible institutions.
