Director of Peqin Prison, 10 Employees to Remain in Jail

The court of Elbasan has today (December 19) given the security measure "prison arrest" for Sokol Mjacaj, who killed Arben Lleshi with a firearm and injured Indrit Shaqja in Peqin prison. Likewise, the court decided "prison arrest" for Kamber Hoxha, the director of Peqin prison and 10 employees of this prison. 

As for Vilson Shima, this prison employee has also been given mandatory appearance measures, as he has a paralyzed child. 

On December 15, Arben Lleshi, sentenced to life imprisonment, was killed, while Ilir Shaqja, also sentenced to life imprisonment, was injured. 

The perpetrator of this serious event is Sokol Mjacaj, also sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of two Czech tourists in 2015. 

In a press release, the General Directorate of Prisons announced that there had been a conflict between three prisoners and that initially two of them were injured, while Mjacaj was put under control. 

For Sokol Mjacaj, sentenced to life imprisonment, the charges of "murder in qualifying circumstances", one of which an attempt; "keeping and manufacturing weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" and "introducing or keeping items in the institution of execution of prison sentences". 

While the 12 officials and employees of the Peqin prison police are accused of the criminal offense of "abuse of duty".
