Dozens detained after clashes at opposition protest in Tirana
Around 11 protesters were arrested and 22 others were escorted by police following a protest organized by Albania’s Democratic Party on Friday evening, authorities said.
According to reports, the detentions occurred after protesters threw fireworks toward the prime minister’s office building, shortly after Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha concluded his speech.
The rally was marked by tensions and clashes, with both protesters and opposition lawmakers reported injured after police used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the crowd.
