Drug Trafficking Gang Dismantled in Italy, 8 Albanians Arrested

The Carabinieri of Trento have finalized an operation against the illegal drug trade, as 38 people were arrested in the early hours of the morning. The arrested are 15 Moroccans, eight Albanians, three Tunisians, one Algerian, one from Kosovo and ten Italians.

The arrests were made in the provinces of Trento, Brescia, Vicenza, Mantua, Prato and Bari. Other people were jailed in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Investigations by the Carabinieri of Trento began in May 2020 under the direction of the local public prosecutor. In the process, they discovered two separate criminal organizations.

The first gang, composed mainly of Albanians living in Trentino, supplied local dealers mainly with heroin, but also with cocaine, hashish and marijuana. The heroin came from the Milan area and was sold in large quantities to small Tunisian dealers in Trento. The gang bought the cocaine from suppliers in Campania and sent it to Trento by car or train every week.

On the other hand, the members of the second criminal organization came mainly from North Africa. This gang specialized in the international cocaine trade. The drug was imported from Belgium and the Netherlands to be sold in the upper Lake Garda and lower Sarka areas.
