Fatal Crash in Albania Claims Life of Prominent Chinese Businessman, Injures Six Others

A road accident that occurred days ago along the Librazhd–Përrenjas highway has ended in tragedy, claiming the life of Chinese national Li Jianhong and leaving six others injured.

The incident has drawn significant attention in Chinese media, which identified the victim as a highly influential entrepreneur from the Xinjiang region. Reports indicate that Li was in Albania on a business visit and was traveling with several fellow Chinese nationals at the time of the accident, as part of activities related to investment and economic cooperation.

Li Jianhong, 60, born in December 1965, was the president of Xinjiang Grand Scape Group and the founder of the well-known “Silkroad Mountain Resort” in Urumqi, a major winter tourism project in China. He began his career in the telecommunications sector before returning to Xinjiang in 1993 to build his own private enterprise.

Over the years, his company expanded into a major business group operating across telecommunications, tourism, and investment management, overseeing assets worth approximately 1.4 billion yuan and employing thousands of people.

In 2002, the group was among the founding entities of the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar, a landmark in Urumqi, before withdrawing from the project in 2017. Through his tourism investments, Li made a notable impact with the development of Silkroad Mountain Resort, now considered a key destination for winter sports in China.

Beyond his business achievements, Li was known for his passion for extreme sports and adventure. He completed the renowned “Explorer’s Grand Slam,” climbing the highest peaks on all seven continents and reaching both the North and South Poles.

In 2018, at the age of 53, he successfully summited Mount Everest and also climbed Mount Lhotse, placing him among a select group of accomplished international mountaineers.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
