Firefighting Operation Continues as Wildfire Spreads in Fier
Firefighters and military forces are continuing an operation to contain a wildfire in the village of Drenije, in the Patos area of Fier, after the flames spread deeper into the forest overnight toward Gjinoqare and Ngracie.
Three firefighting vehicles, one water tanker, 20 members of the Fire Protection and Rescue Service, 15 municipal personnel and 30 troops from the Southern Infantry Regiment, based at the Poshnje unit, have been deployed to the area.
According to information from the scene, the fire intensified overnight and moved further into the forest, with crews facing difficult conditions as they work to contain the blaze.
The size of the affected area, rugged terrain and intensity of the flames are complicating efforts to isolate and extinguish the fire.
Authorities say the teams on the ground are continuing operations, with the main focus on preventing the flames from spreading further and achieving full containment of the fire.
