Former Chief of Infectious Diseases Dies of Covid-19

Doctor Petro Shamo couldn't win the personal battle with Covid-19, dying this Saturday at the age of 78. 

Shamo has previously held the post of Chief of Infectious Diseases. It is learned that the doctor was hospitalized for 5 days, where he was receiving treatment, but he could not make it against novel virus Covid-19. 

The dangerous virus has been hitting very hard Albania in recent weeks. Over 15 deaths per day, as well as more than 1000 new cases, have been reported, with the capacities of four Covid hospitals in the capital being exhausted and the regional hospitals being put in use to receive coronavirus patients.
