Çela-Proda, Agreement Reached on Measures for Swift Identification and Investigation of Electoral Crimes

Today, the General Prosecutor, Mr. Olsian Çela, met with the General Director of the State Police, Mr. Ilir Proda.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and coordination between the prosecutor's offices with general jurisdiction and the State Police within the context of effectively investigating electoral crimes.

Both leaders of the institutions agreed on a range of administrative measures designed to ensure the swift and effective identification and investigation of electoral crimes. These efforts will engage all relevant structures, addressing the specific needs associated with the electoral period.

Investigating electoral crimes will be treated as an institutional priority and will fall under the purview of special investigative teams to be established, comprising both prosecutors and judicial police officers. These teams will be supported with the necessary human and technical resources from the State Police, enabling the use of special investigative methods.

The General Director of the State Police reassured the General Prosecutor about the commitment of the police structures throughout the electoral process, fully adhering to the legal framework in force.

The General Prosecutor and the Director General of the State Police, while reaffirming their full institutional commitment, encourage all citizens, as well as other relevant parties, to promptly report electoral crimes and cooperate with law enforcement authorities to ensure their comprehensive investigation.
