Former Director of Lushnja Prison Sentenced to Jail

Former director of Lushnja prison Judmir Shurdhi was sentenced to 1 year and four months in prison by the Court against Organized Crime and Corruption (GJKKO).

He was found guilty of criminal offenses of abuse of office and violation of equality in tenders. Shurdhi is accused that together with his subordinates violated the procedures for the tender set for the transport of prison guards.

According to SPAK (Special Prosecution against Corruption), Shurdhi, who held the position of director of the prison in 2020, when the violation in question dates back, abused his position regarding the development of the tender for the transport of employees after charging the same persons to be members of the Procurement Unit and the Bid Evaluation Commission.

He had approved the legal violations committed by them, both in 2018 and in 2019, and had put pressure on the qualification of an operator who participated in the competition. Shurdhi was arrested in 2019 together with his subordinate Llazar Mino, after the release from prison 4 months and 22 days ahead of time, Lulzim Caka, convicted of a series of serious criminal offenses.
