A violent assault shook Lezhë late Saturday night, when former Democratic Party chairman of the Dajç unit in Zadrimë, Sokol Toma, was attacked by unidentified assailants.

The 53-year-old was beaten with blunt objects on the Mamurras-Laç highway, near Sanxhak, around 10 p.m. 

According to medical sources, Toma sustained severe injuries, including broken legs and a severed ear. He was transferred to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment and is currently admitted to the orthopedics ward.

Police report that the attackers also stole his phone before fleeing the scene. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, while the motive behind the assault remains unclear.
