HJC Invites Eligible Judges to Compete for Constitutional Court

High Judicial Council (HJC) publicly appealed Thursday to all judges in Albania who passed the vetting process and were confirmed in duty to run for vacant positions at the Constitutional Court.

In its official statement, the Council also informed that the judges of Constitutional Court are guaranteed the right to be appointed to another equal or similar position at the end of their mandate. These judges are entitled to receiving a position in the judicial system, at least in the position they have held, including appointment at an appellate level position.

“The Council, estimating the Constitutional Court as the main body for guaranteeing the observance of the principles of control and balance of powers, ensuring of constitutionality in decision-making and the rule of law in the Republic of Albania, encourages judges with integrity and high ethical-professional qualities to run for the free positions for judges in the Constitutional Court, announced by the Parliament and the President of the Republic”, notified the HJC.

One day ago, Chairwoman Naureda Llagami stressed that filling of vacancies at High Court is HJC's priority. Moreover, she held a meeting with the Chairperson of the Independent Qualification Commission, Pamela Qirko, and the Chairperson of the Appeal Chamber, Albana Shtyllain the framework of accelerating the re-evaluation process of candidacies for members of the Supreme Court.
