Rama Meets New Turkish Ambassador, Reaffirms Commitment to Strong Bilateral Ties
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama met with Turkey’s newly appointed ambassador to Albania, Baris Ceyhun Erciyes, on Wednesday, reaffirming the close relationship between the two countries and their commitment to expanding cooperation.
Rama announced the meeting in a post on the social media platform X, sharing photographs released by the Turkish Embassy in Tirana. The Albanian prime minister described it as a pleasure to welcome the new ambassador of what he called “brotherly Turkey.”
According to a statement from the Turkish Embassy in Tirana, both sides praised the excellent level of bilateral relations and reviewed progress in cooperation across several sectors. The discussions focused in particular on strengthening economic ties and advancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The embassy said the two parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to further deepening relations, especially in the economic sphere, reflecting the strategic partnership that has characterized ties between Albania and Turkey in recent years.
During the meeting, Ambassador Erciyes also expressed satisfaction regarding Prime Minister Rama’s upcoming visit to Ankara for the NATO Summit, a visit expected to provide another opportunity for high-level dialogue between the two allies.
Albania and Turkey maintain close diplomatic, economic and security relations, with both countries cooperating within NATO and on a range of regional and international issues.
