House-Arrest Suspect Sought After Crashing Into Five Parked Cars During Police Pursuit in Durres

Albanian police are searching for a man who allegedly fled officers and crashed into five parked vehicles in the coastal city of Durres on Monday, authorities said.

According to a preliminary statement from police, officers from the Special Police Unit "Shqiponja" attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at high speed in Neighborhood No. 14 at approximately 12:45 p.m. local time. The driver allegedly ignored police orders to pull over and continued driving.

During the attempted escape, the suspect struck five parked vehicles, causing material damage but no reported injuries, police said.

Authorities identified the driver as R.Xh., who allegedly abandoned the vehicle after the collisions and fled the scene on foot. Police units immediately launched a search operation and are conducting intensive checks in the area to locate and apprehend him.

Preliminary investigative findings indicate that the suspect had already been declared wanted for the criminal offense of escaping from his designated place of detention after violating a court-ordered house arrest measure. The house arrest had reportedly been imposed in connection with fraud-related proceedings.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to fully clarify and document the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No injuries have been reported, and the damage appears to be limited to the vehicles involved.
