Illegal Items Seized During Security Checks at Fier Prison

Authorities in Albania have seized multiple illegal items, including mobile phones, suspected narcotics, and alcohol, during a series of security inspections carried out at Fier Prison, according to the General Directorate of Prisons.

The operation was conducted by Operational Forces of the Prison Directorate in cooperation with the Agency for Supervision of the System for the Execution of Penal Decisions, following intelligence gathered by the Directorate of Risk Analysis and Assessment.

During inspections near Building “A” of the prison facility, officers discovered and confiscated 10 mobile phones, 10 phone chargers, several containers suspected of containing alcohol, and suspected narcotic substances found in two separate locations.

Authorities said incident reports and seizure records were drafted, while the relevant oversight agency was notified to continue further procedures.

In a separate incident inside the prison, officers conducting a scanner inspection on inmate A.M. allegedly found five small packages suspected to contain narcotics hidden inside clothing.

Following the discovery, prison officials and supervising authorities were informed, while the inmate was transferred to an isolation sector pending further investigation.

The General Directorate of Prisons stated that inspections at Fier Prison are continuing as part of broader efforts to strengthen security measures and prevent the introduction or possession of prohibited items inside correctional facilities.
