Prime Minister Edi Rama in the weekly conference "Economy in focus" stated that in the third term this government has as the ambition to increase the minimum wage.

According to him, the increase of the minimum wage to ALL 30.000 is only one station. Among other things, he listed some of the achievements that have been made for small businesses, such as the abolition of profit tax or VAT. 

"We want to focus on three very important aspects that are, I believe, the three cornerstones for the third term and the work ahead. In the conditions of an extraordinary situation, which for us Albanians started before it started for the whole world after we faced a catastrophic earthquake that not only deprived thousands of families from a shelter in a few seconds, destroyed dozens of schools, but also imposed a review of priorities. 

Then came the invisible enemy, which has hit hard on the economies of all countries, has significantly influenced the economic activity of all actors large and small. It has also dictated the decline in supply-demand. Restrictions on cash flows. However, we have faced both of these disasters with strength, courage, and a lot of willpower and commitment. Meanwhile, what I am proud of our work, is that for a moment we have not left only those who have been most exposed to these disasters. Families returning home week after week, or those expected to return. 

The minimum wage that we have set at ALL 30.000 now. We have the ambition to increase it year after year. The salary of ALL 30.000 is not a destination, but a station. This is not a lot to expect applause or praise, but also challenging. In 2013, the minimum wage was only ALL 22.000. Today we are at ALL 30.000 and I want to tell all those who are beneficiaries of this salary that they should see this as a process and a station on a road that continues. Our ambition is to increase the minimum wage further. This has been the most extraordinary mandate in all governments, as half of this mandate has been war with two extraordinary disasters. As we are emerging victorious, step by step from the war with the earthquake disaster, with its consequences, so we will emerge from this global war, " underlined Rama.
