Law Violations: AMA Issued 46 Fines from January to October 2024
For various law violations identified during the period of January to October 2024, the Audiovisual Media Authority has approved 46 fines for different entities, including radio, television, and authorized cable operators.
Through content monitoring, through the inspections from the inspection groups, and the review of complaints received by the Complaints Council, the following types of broadcasts were found: content inciting hatred among citizens; content violating human dignity and fundamental rights; harmful content for children; content inciting violence or criminal acts; illegal broadcasts; and violations of standards for airing graphic images related to criminal events etc. These violations were sanctioned in accordance with legal provisions.
Additionally, during these ten months, AMA’s work groups also faced audiovisual media operators (OSHMA) that failed to self-declare their financial statements to AMA, did not meet other legal obligations, such as declaring ownership structures, and also faced certain radio stations that failed to comply with legal requirements for the broadcast content.
As a result of these violations, the ten-month period of 2024 was closed with 46 fines issued.
The supervision and further regulation of the audio and audiovisual media market, enforcing the law, and sanctioning violators remain key objectives of AMA’s work, aiming to ensure a professional audiovisual market in Albania.
