Mission of Italian Doctors to Albania Ends, Co-op to Continue

The team of Italian doctors have completed Thursday their mission in Albania, where they have provided valuable experience for the teams of Albanian doctors in COVID hospitals.

Before their departure, they were received at the Ministry of Health by Minister Ogerta Manastirliu, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Albania, Fabrizio Bucci.

"Only through solidarity and unified actions will we be able to win the fight against the dangerous virus. Your experience in COVID hospitals and concrete advice on hospital organization are valuable and help our health system response strategy to the situation, with the fall-winter plan we have prepared to cope with a possible increase in the number of cases. I am convinced that this mission will not be the only one but our cooperation will continue in other missions," said Manastirliu.

The Italian doctors expressed their appreciation for the team of Albanian doctors who are currently trating patients affected by COVID-19 and expressed their readiness to continue the cooperation.

Ambassador Bucci said during the meeting that: "This is only the beginning and the cooperation between our two countries will continue".

Two weeks ago, the Italian Civil Emergency Task Force consisting of seven experts came to Albania in support of our country in coping with the situation caused by COVID-19. The group of experts conducted consulting activities and helped in order to form special training of Albanian counterparts on issues related to the specific health aspect in the diagnosis and fight against Covid.
