Notorious Behar Bajri Left in Prison by Special Court
Special Court of Appeals for Corruption and Organized Crime has left this Thursday in effect the 'prison arrest' measure for Behar Bajri, who is accused of a series of serious criminal offences.
The 43-year-old was extradited from France to Albania in November after his arrest in a bar in Paris in September.
In 2021, the French state refused asylum to Bajri. The 43-year-old was wanted internationally as part of the "Metamorfoza" file.
Investigations began in 2019 after Belgian and Dutch authorities secured communications on applications used by criminal elements "Enchro Chat" and "SKY".
The investigations showed that the businessman Pëllumb Gjoka, already arrested, had asked Behar Bajri to commit the murder of Kleanthi Musabelli, a former employee of the prison police.
The file also revealed how Bajri had collaborated with Ervis Martinaj.
Referring to the investigation file, Behar Bajri and Denis Borrici executed Gjin Boriçi by order of Martinaj, and the latter was to eliminate Kleanth Musabelliu, a murder which was not carried out after the target understood the plan.
Bajri is also accused of providing the conditions to kill Ibrahim Lici and Genc Tafili.
As part of the Metamorfoza file, the businessman Pëllumb Gjoka, the former prosecutor of Kukës Xhevahir Lita and the head of the Operational Forces, Oltion Bitri, were also arrested while murders and attempted murders in Shkodër and Tirana were revealed.
