Who Are the Three Organizers Behind Tirana’s Ongoing Protests?
The organizers of the non-partisan protests that have entered their 16th day in Tirana have publicly identified themselves for the first time, as demonstrators gathered once again in the capital’s Skanderbeg Square.
Speaking to supporters ahead of Monday’s march, activist Alben Kola revealed the names of the three individuals who initiated the movement and are officially recognized by police authorities as organizers of the demonstrations.
“The three organizers known to the police are Luçiana Kokaj from Rrjoll, Alben Kola from Kukës, and Arlinda Lleshi from Lezhë,” Kola told the crowd.
The announcement came as protesters prepared for another day of demonstrations following reports of incidents during the previous evening’s march.
Organizers used the occasion to call for unity among participants and urged demonstrators not to allow divisions to undermine the movement. They also announced new measures aimed at preventing further disturbances.
According to Kola, the marches have largely been organized by young people, but organizers will now take a more active role in overseeing the events to ensure they remain peaceful.
“There will be no more marches outside the Ring Road,” he said, referring to a decision intended to avoid a repeat of the previous night’s incidents.
The citizen-led protest movement, which organizers describe as non-partisan, has continued to attract participants in central Tirana, with demonstrations now entering their third week.
