The Tax Administration has completed the process of automatic compensation of credit surplus with unpaid tax liabilities, within the framework of the implementation of the law in force on the forgiveness of tax liabilities, Scan TV reported.

According to official data from the General Directorate of Taxes, the total value of compensations realized amounts to Euro 10.4 million, while 13,408 taxpayers have benefited from this measure. A total of 86,773 transactions were carried out during the process.

The Tax Administration announces that the compensation was realized automatically, without the need for taxpayers to submit requests or follow additional procedures. This mechanism aims to ease the fiscal burden for businesses and individuals that have unpaid liabilities by utilizing the credit surpluses accumulated in the system. According to the tax administration, the implementation of the measures provided for in the amnesty law will continue in the coming phases, with the aim of reducing tax liabilities for thousands of taxpayers and improving fiscal administration in the country.

Businesses will benefit from over Euro 460 million in forgiven tax liabilities through the law on the forgiveness and extinction of tax liabilities, which has started to be applied from May 15, 2026.
