One person was killed and several others were injured in a serious road accident early Sunday on the Dukat–Orikum highway in southern Albania, authorities said.

The crash occurred at around 6:10 a.m. local time in the area known as "Fushë Dukat," when a van transporting workers veered off the road and slammed into a concrete barrier. Preliminary reports suggest the workers were travelling from Tirana to Albania's southern coastline for work.

The victim was identified as 52-year-old Ilir Haka, who died at the scene. Four others were injured, including Saimir Haka, 22, Qazim Haka, 44, Sako Rexha, approximately 22, and another individual whose identity has not yet been released.
