Opposition Seeks Parliamentary Interpellation Over Police Integrity Concerns

Democratic Party (PD) has formally requested a parliamentary interpellation with Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari, raising concerns over what it describes as criminal influence within the State Police and other security structures.

According to the request, the opposition intends to hold Lamallari accountable for alleged links between organized crime and law enforcement institutions. The Democratic Party has repeatedly accused authorities of failing to safeguard the integrity of the police force.

In addition to these claims, PD is seeking detailed explanations regarding appointment and promotion procedures within the police ranks. The party is also pressing for clarity on measures taken to ensure professionalism, transparency, and accountability among law enforcement personnel.

The move comes amid longstanding tensions between the opposition and government over the management of the State Police. Over the years, the Democratic Party has voiced ongoing dissatisfaction, frequently alleging the force has been compromised by criminal elements.

The requested interpellation is expected to further intensify political debate over security and institutional integrity in the country.
