Police Arrest Two Foreign Nationals in Anti-Prostitution Crackdown

Albanian authorities have arrested two foreign nationals, a Vietnamese and a Chinese citizen, in connection with alleged prostitution activities in the capital, Tirana.

Police said the two women had rented apartments in central areas of the city, specifically along Rruga e Durrësit and “Mine Peza” street, where they were suspected of carrying out illegal prostitution.

The arrests were made as part of two phases of ongoing police operations codenamed “Network” and “Foleja,” targeting the use of rented apartments for illicit activities.

During the “Network” operation, a 33-year-old Vietnamese national, identified by initials P. Th., was detained after authorities found she had allegedly rented an apartment on “Mine Peza” street on a daily basis for prostitution purposes.

In a separate phase, dubbed “Foleja 7,” police arrested a 43-year-old Chinese national, identified as Y. W., who is suspected of engaging in prostitution in an apartment rented on Rruga e Durrësit.

Authorities also announced that one individual has been placed under investigation for allegedly benefiting from the illegal activity.

Police reported the seizure of a significant amount of cash and three mobile phones as part of the operation.

The case has been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings.
