Police Arrests 152 People as Student Protests Turn Violent Across Seven Cities

Police have arrested 152 people and launched criminal proceedings against 324 others following four days of violent protests across seven cities, according to the State Police.

Authorities reported damage to public institutions, private businesses, banks, ATMs and vehicles in Tirana, Durrës, Korçë, Vlorë, Shkodër, Elbasan and Kukës.

Police said 120 officers have been injured in incidents across the country, including a police officer who was seriously wounded in Shkodër and transferred to Tirana’s Trauma Hospital.

The State Police also said cybercrime and counterterrorism units are investigating online channels allegedly used to circulate calls for violence, extremist acts and threats against officers.

Authorities have urged demonstrators to distance themselves from violent individuals, stressing that the constitutional right to protest must be exercised peacefully and does not justify attacks or property destruction.
