Seven Students Report Teacher for Alleged Sexual Harassment at School in Southern Albania
Seven female students at the “Hajredin Beqari” school in Selenicë, southern Albania, have reported a physical education teacher to police, accusing him of sexual harassment on school premises.
Following the complaint, Vlora Police escorted and questioned 35-year-old Albano Ameti, who had reportedly joined the school's teaching staff about two months ago.
The students who filed the allegations are between 14 and 17 years old. During interviews conducted in Selenicë, several students at the school said they had heard about the accusations made against the teacher. Some students stated that they were questioned by investigators at the Vlora Police Directorate as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Parents of several students also said they had heard allegations concerning inappropriate behaviour toward female pupils, including reported harassment and unwanted physical contact.
Meanwhile, Dritan Gargaj, a colleague who said he had known Ameti for approximately two months, expressed disbelief that the teacher could have committed such acts.
One student alleged that the teacher would make inappropriate remarks, saying phrases such as, “Come here, darling.”
Authorities said investigations are continuing to fully clarify the circumstances of the case. Police are interviewing students and other individuals who may have information relevant to the investigation.
The case materials have been forwarded to the Vlora Prosecutor’s Office for further legal procedures.
