Powerful Explosion Hits Business in Tirana Amid Reports of Prior Threats

A powerful explosion was reported in the early hours of Sunday in Tirana, triggering panic and concern among residents in the surrounding area.

According to sources citing police, the incident occurred at a business owned by Endri Meksi, owner of MCN TV. Preliminary information indicates that a suspected of explosive material was placed outside the premises of “MCN Get Connected,” located in the Xhamllik area, causing significant material damage.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Police quickly secured the area and launched an investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of the blast. Forensic experts are working to determine the type of explosive used and how it was planted, while security camera footage from the area is being reviewed.

The incident comes amid a series of reported threats allegedly directed at Meksi over time. On the evening of March 9, unidentified individuals reportedly ambushed him outside his television station. Meksi told authorities that around 11:00 p.m., a white Audi vehicle approached the building, from which three masked and armed individuals exited, threatened him, and then fled the scene.

In previous public statements, Meksi has claimed he faced repeated intimidation and threats. In a recent television interview, he also publicly addressed personal matters, stating that a past extramarital relationship had contributed to tensions in his life.

Authorities continue to investigate all possible motives, including whether the explosion is linked to ongoing threats against him.

The investigation remains ongoing.
