The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta honoured, through a solemn ceremony, five prominent patriotic activists from Nis, Medvegja, Presheva and Bujanovci, for their outstanding patriotic contributions for the protection of the Albanian cause and the elevation of the best national values.

With the "Golden Eagle Decoration", the President praised Ridvan Qazimi (after his death), with the motivation: "With special honour and respect for life, unforgettable work and precious patriotic contributions as a fighter of the first hours for freedom in the Presheve Valley, and as an organizer, leader and inspiration on the path to freedom and gaining the undeniable rights of Albanians".

With the Decoration "Honour of the Nation" was decorated Professor Ahmet Gashi (after death) "In high state appreciation for his life and his voluminous intellectual and patriotic work in the service of Albanianism. With gratitude for the valuable contributions as an unforgettable teacher, genuine researcher and rare geography scientist, who fanatically preserved, significantly enriched and transmitted with patriotism and accuracy to countless generations in all areas inhabited by Albanians, not only his knowledge, but also the invaluable map ‘The True Eagle’.”

With the title "Knight of the Order of Skanderbeg" President Meta praised Ibrahim Kelmendi (after death) "With gratitude for the extraordinary contribution to the organization of the resistance of our people during the World War II; for the preservation of our national being and identity in the Presheve Valley, as well as for the valuable contribution given in the field of education and enlightenment of our national history.”

Another decoration belonged to Llukman Halili (after his death) "In appreciation of his life and many years of patriotic work, as well as with gratitude for his valuable intellectual contributions as a professional journalist, political scientist, researcher and publicist, who never ceased to reflect truthfully and impartially the important and decisive historical events of recent decades, which determined the fate of the Albanian nation on both sides of the border and in all areas inhabited by Albanians.”

While with the Title "Naim Frashëri", the Head of State decorated Bafti Krasniqi (after his death) “"With gratitude for his life and patriotic work, as a tireless teacher and activist, who constantly strived for Albanian education, faithfully preserved, enriched without tire and lovingly nurtured for generations of Albanians our beautiful mother tongue as and the best virtues of the Albanian nation in the territory of the Municipality of Medvegja.”

At the end of the ceremony, President Meta said that these personalities have left an indelible mark on the history, culture, science and heritage of the Albanian nation.
