Public Commissioner Seeks Assets’ Reinvestigation of Judge Brahimi
Public Commissioner Florian Ballhysa has requested the full reopening of the vetting administrative investigation for Gjirokastra’s Appellate Judge Irena Brahimi.
According to the PC, the Independent Qualification Commission did not properly assess the declaration of assets of the judge, especially that of 2007-2008. In these years, the judge has bought an apartment.
"The Public Commissioner, from the verification of the acts, estimates that the Commission's investigation on the legal resources that have served for the creation of real estate […] is not complete," the commissioner wrote.
The Commissioner also considered incomplete the investigation conducted by the IQC on the education of children in private schools in Albania and the United Kingdom.
Judge Brahimi was confirmed in office on July 21, 2020.
The decision was taken by the trial panel: Brunilda Bekteshi, Olsi Komici and Lulzim Hamitaj.
Judge Brahimi started her career in the justice system in 2001 as a judge of the Gjirokastra Court.
