Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has invited the country’s justice institutions to a joint consultation meeting on magistrates’ salaries, scheduled for September 28 at 12:30 p.m. at the Prime Minister’s Office.

According to the invitation, the meeting will launch an inter-institutional dialogue on the principles, criteria and mechanisms for determining and periodically reviewing salaries in the justice system.

The government says the proposed framework should be based on clear and objective rules, while ensuring budgetary sustainability, institutional coherence and proportionality between responsibilities.

The process is also presented as a way to support the independence, integrity and professionalism of the justice system, in line with European standards.

The meeting comes amid an ongoing institutional debate over magistrates’ salaries. Parliament recently approved a new reference salary formula, raising the coefficient from 0.36 to 0.38 of the president’s salary, a move that has been challenged by several justice institutions.
