Russian Missile Strike in Kyiv Hits Residential Complex Housing Albanian Ambassador

Ukraine’s capital Kyiv came under another large-scale Russian missile and drone attack overnight, with the residential complex housing Albania’s ambassador to Ukraine among the sites struck, placing the diplomat’s life at serious risk.

Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, strongly condemned the attack in a post on X, calling it “unacceptable” and announcing that the Russian ambassador in Tirana had been summoned to provide explanations.

“Albania strongly condemns yet another brutal large-scale attack with ballistic missiles and drones launched overnight by Russia against civilian targets in Ukraine, in total disregard for human life and dignity,” Hoxha said.

“This time, the residential complex where Albania’s Ambassador to Ukraine resides was hit, seriously endangering his life. This is unacceptable,” he added.

Hoxha described the targeting of civilian areas and the endangerment of diplomatic personnel as a “serious escalation” and “another grim reminder of the human cost of Russia’s ongoing aggression.”

He said Russia’s war against Ukraine has continued for far too long, noting that since the full-scale invasion began more than four years ago, Russian forces have repeatedly targeted energy infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and homes across Ukraine.

“Yet Russia has failed to break the courage, determination, resilience, and strength of the Ukrainian people,” the minister stated.

Hoxha called on Russia to immediately halt the attacks, end the war against Ukraine, fully respect international law, and return to negotiations.

“Russia is not winning; it is only killing, causing suffering and destruction,” he said, reiterating Albania’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

He also stressed that those responsible for the attacks “must be held accountable.”
