Saranda Prosecution Investigations into Narcotics Production and Sale Led to Detention of Police Officer on Suspicion of Passive Corruption
Citizen E.Ruci, a judicial police officer in Saranda, has been detained at the request of Saranda Prosecution Office, on suspicion of the criminal offense of “Passive Corruption by Persons that Exercise Public Functions”, as provided for in Article 259/2 of the Criminal Code.
The detention follows investigations into criminal proceeding no. 305, dated 19.05.2026, registered for the criminal offense of “Production and Sale of Narcotics” under Article 283/2 of the Criminal Code, involving citizens K.D. and A.Z. Authorities seized 24 doses of a suspected narcotic substance (cannabis sativa) from a vehicle driven by A.Z., leading to their arrest in flagrante delicto, while investigations remain ongoing.
In the course of the case’s investigations, suspicions arose that judicial police officer E.R., who was overseeing the case, had been involved in illicit activities.
Subsequently, the on-duty prosecutor conducted further investigative actions, which yielded evidence establishing the officer’s involvement in suspected corrupt activities. Consequently, a detention order was issued for E.R. for the crime of 'Passive Corruption by Persons Exercising Public Functions,' as defined under Article 259/2 of the Criminal Code.
AMP services have detained the judicial police officer, and the investigations remain ongoing.
