Several Injured by Fireworks During New Year Celebrations in Sarandë

New Year celebrations in the coastal city of Sarandë were accompanied by multiple injuries caused by the use of fireworks and firecrackers.

According to medical staff, in two serious cases, surgical intervention was required.

A 44-year-old man, identified as Arjan Braho, a resident of Sarandë, suffered severe injuries to three fingers of his right hand after a firecracker exploded in his hand.

Another injury involved 32-year-old Visilda Jakupi, who received medical treatment at Sarandë Hospital after suffering damage to two fingers of her right hand as a result of fireworks use.

During New Year’s Eve night, a total of 55 cases were treated at the emergency department of Sarandë Hospital. Most of the cases were related to injuries from fireworks, as well as incidents involving intoxicated individuals.

Health authorities once again appealed to citizens to avoid the dangerous use of pyrotechnics, especially during festive celebrations.
