Socialist Parliamentary Leader Testifies for Over Three Hours in Special Court

The head of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, has concluded his testimony at the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO), following a session that lasted more than three and a half hours.

Speaking after the hearing, Taulant Balla stated that the criminal complaints he has filed are his “individual responsibility,” a position he said he also expressed before the court.

“He told me: ‘You have declared in Parliament that the earth will not swallow us without seeing Berisha in prison.’ That relates to the events of January 21,” Balla said. “We never influence the activity of the Special Prosecution. The case was registered in autumn 2024, and a year and a half has passed. That has been sufficient time.”

When asked whether Prime Minister Edi Rama would appear as a witness in the ongoing “Partizani” case, Balla reiterated that “responsibility is individual.”

The testimony comes amid continued legal proceedings tied to high-profile political and corruption ?????? in Albania, with scrutiny focused on the independence of judicial institutions.
