Socialist Party to Hold Joint Government and Parliamentary Meeting Amid Political Tensions
The ruling Socialist Party is set to convene an expanded meeting of its parliamentary group and government officials on Saturday at the Palace of Brigades in Tirana, according to information obtained by local media.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., with party members informed through an official notice distributed by the Socialist Party.
“On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., the Expanded Monthly Meeting of the Socialist Parliamentary Group will take place at the Palace of Brigades. The agenda of the meeting will be communicated subsequently,” the party said in its announcement.
The gathering will mark the first major meeting of Socialist lawmakers and government representatives since the outbreak of anti-government protests in Tirana and the departure of MP Marjana Koçeku from the Socialist Party, after which she continued her political activity as an independent legislator.
The meeting is expected to address current political developments, although party officials have not yet released a detailed agenda.
The developments come at a time of heightened political tensions in the country, following a series of protests in the capital and growing debate over divisions within the ruling majority.
