Tiranë: RENEA Operation, 18 Weapon Bases Dismantled

Tirana Police has conducted this Thursday a super-operation, in cooperation with the Rapid Intervention Forces and RENEA Forces, where they have found 18 armament bases.

In a statement to the media, the head of the Tirana Police, Rebani Jaupi, said that the criminal bases that were hit, were used for the production of heavy combat weapons from snipers, anti-tanks, Kalashnikovs and other ammunition.

The police operation "Complex" is finalized, developed by the structures of the Local Police Directorate of Tirana, with the support of the General Directorate of State Police.

Arsenal of various types of weapons have been found: snipers, anti-tanks, Kalashnikovs, pistols, silencers, police and army radios, thermal optics for snipers, various parts for modification of weapons and quantities of ammunition, 7 vehicles, 2 of them armored.

The police forces have arrested 5 people and 2 others, declared involved in this criminal activity, are declared wanted.

Also during the operation, 3 persons were located and arrested for whom SPAK has issued a detention order, namely: Paris Prenga, Bledar Deda and Flor Abazi. Sokol Gjura, a citizen who left the country weeks ago, was also declared wanted.

The detention of these citizens was done because these persons, together with two other previously arrested persons, Ermond Jamaku and Enver Jamaku, are suspected to be the perpetrators of the event that took place on October 18, 2019, in Tirana, where attempted to kill the citizen A.B. with a remote-controlled explosive.

The wanted citizen Sokol Gjura is suspected that together with two other previously arrested persons, Ermond Jamaku and Enver Jamaku, are the perpetrators of the armed attack on the citizen P.P., an event that took place on September 10, 2017, in Muhamet Street Deliu” in Tirana.

Also, these persons are suspected to be perpetrators of placing explosives, grenades and firearms, as well as narcotics in the apartment of the citizen E. S., an event that occurred on September 15, 2017 in Tirana.

As part of the operation, during the search of the apartment of the citizen Akil Kulla, who was declared wanted, the Police found and seized an arsenal of combat weapons of various calibers and ammunition, namely a sniper rifle, 4 Kalashnikovs, two grenade launchers, a pistol and parts for repair and modification of firearms.

Also, during the control exercised in the apartment of the citizen Bujar Jaupi, who was arrested in flagrante delicto, were found and seized 25 silencers for various weapons produced by this citizen in the lathe that was in use in the apartment, a pistol with grinder and hundreds of parts for modifying and repairing firearms.

As part of the operation, from the control in the apartment of the citizen Arben Sufa, with a turner's profession, the Police found a pistol and parts for silencers.

For investigative reasons, we do not disclose other data, as the operation continues to uncover other events in which these and other citizens are suspected to be involved.
