Police in Tirana have begun preliminary checks into sexually explicit videos that have been circulating on social media and other online platforms since Tuesday, according to sources within the police.

The Cybercrime Unit has reviewed the content of the materials and is also examining their alleged source and how the videos were initially published and subsequently distributed online.

According to preliminary findings, authorities have not opened a formal criminal investigation at this stage. Police sources said they have not identified elements involving violence or the participation of minors in the material reviewed.

Another factor in the preliminary assessment is that, so far, none of the people allegedly featured in the videos has filed a complaint with Tirana Police concerning the publication or distribution of the material.

As a result, there is currently no registered criminal proceeding related to the case.

The videos, which reportedly feature several well-known figures from Albania’s arts and cultural scene, began spreading rapidly across social media and various online platforms on Tuesday.

Authorities are continuing to verify the circumstances surrounding the publication and distribution of the material.
