Two Albanian Documentary Movies in the Archeovision - European Archeological Film Festival - 1st Edition
The Archeo Film Festival is a very first time for Albania. Since 16 of June, 13 movies from 8 different countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Cech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Spain were screened in several stages in Albania, in the COD garden, in Tirana, the Amphitheater of Durres, and the Tunnel Terrace in Tirana, to close on the 30 June in the Archeological Parc of Apollonia.
The goal of this unique Festival is to bring to the Albanian public the most famous or not yet well-known sites of Europe, to show the beauty of the finds and tell their hidden and mysterious stories, as well as Albanian archeological sites.
The two Albanian movies from the documentaries series Art & Trashëgimi financed by EU and produced by Argjiro are the "Drin Valley, an eagle's nest" and "Life in lost cities" are part of the selection of the Archeovision will be screened tonight at 9:00 in Tirana.
European Union Delegation in Tirana with these movies intend to promote the Albanian cultural heritage and make a valuable contribution in the preservation of Albanian history and heritage. Heritage is far from frozen in time; rather, it develops together with the societies that give it life and sanctuary. Given that heritage is a living memory, this TV documentary series will endeavour to make a modest contribution in keeping this memory alive.
“Albania is presently fully committed to its future of European integration and we strongly believe that our culture and heritage will be our best passport to Europe. It is precisely culture and the history that that gives meaning to our lives. Culture often proposes answers to a spiritual motherland in search of an identity," said the producer of the series of the Albanian documentaries Ilda Mara.
The Albanian movies tonight are un invitation to travel from antiquity to middle age times.
"Drin Valley, an eagle's nest". The Drin River Valley, one of Albania's most beautiful areas still hides a lot of history. The culture of Koman, a culture discovered by chance at the end of the 19th century in northern Albania. The story of extraordinary archaeological and historical evidence. Findings that speak of a highly developed Albania in the VI - VIII centuries, artefacts that constitute the early evidence of Arberian culture in continuation of the Illyrian tradition. The extraordinary discovery of a French consul, over 100 years ago, that continues to be enriched today in the Castle of Dalmaca, Shurdhah, Lezha.
The second movie: Life in lost cities will bring light to the ancient cities of Orikum, Bylis, Apolonia and Butrint, that are a treasure of the Albanian history of antiquity.
The first traces of urban life in Albania are to be found in the ruins of the cities of Orikum, Bylis, Apolonia, Butrint and elsewhere. The history of these 4 highly developed centres in specific eras, the concept of urban life in its main components, the moments of glory and those of ruin and extinction. What does their underground still hide and what is the message they bring from the distance of hundreds of years? m
