Veliaj Participates in Planting of 510 Trees in Farka Lake's Area

The largest pedestrian and promenade in Tirana will be in Farka lake. This was announced by the mayor Erion Veliaj, who joined the action to plant 510 new trees in this area.

"Finishing on time the entire pedestrian area, the promenade, the bike lane, the running lane, this contour also gives us the opportunity to make small mini-parks, such as the Helen park, by adding vegetation. I am happy because we are getting very close to our goal of planting 1 million trees in Tirana. I know that every time we plant trees, the political thirst for a silly debate is awakened, but planting trees is the only thing that deserves no debate. We should plant trees as much as we can. We have remained faithful to this objective. The fact that we achieve half of this objective within this year, so that we have time until 2030 for the next 1 millionth, for the Orbital Forest of Tirana, I think we have done the right thing", said Veliaj.

Mayor invited the citizens including the critics to join the planting.

"The remark sticks more if you plant a tree yourself, the remark sticks more if you serve a plate of soup yourself, the remark is worth more if you help a person in need yourself. Commenting on others takes a little skill, cursing is the easiest thing in the world, meanwhile picking up the shovel and being engaged really gives us a contribution," he added.

For seven years, the Municipality of Tirana has launched an action to plant 2 million trees by 2030, as part of the Orbital Forest project, which will surround the capital with greenery.
