19th Consecutive Protest Sees Hundreds March to Parliament and Government Buildings
A large protest took place in Tirana for the 19th consecutive time, with hundreds of citizens gathering initially at Skanderbeg Square before marching toward the Parliament of Albania.
During the march, protesters surrounded the parliamentary area and directed slogans against lawmakers, calling out political responsibility. The demonstration then continued toward the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Albania, where minor clashes were reported between protesters and individuals present inside the party premises.
Following this, the crowd moved toward the Prime Minister’s Office in Tirana, where demonstrators demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the dismissal of his government.
Throughout the rally, participants also voiced criticism against the wider political establishment, including both the ruling majority and the opposition. The slogan “Opozita jemi ne” (“We are the opposition”) has become a recurring message of the protests, reflecting demands for new citizen-based political representation and rejection of traditional parties.
Organizers announced that, due to high temperatures affecting the country, daily protests now begin at 19:00 local time to ensure safer conditions for participants. Following speeches and gatherings, further marches through the streets of Tirana are expected.
The protests continue to reflect growing public frustration with the political class, as demonstrators insist that responsibility for the current situation extends across the entire political spectrum.
